Neoway Collaborates with Willfar to Help Power Distribution Networks Operate Safely and Stably
Time:2022-06-17

In the process of power distribution, the distribution transformer area is the power supply area of the voltage converter between high voltage and low voltage. It is at the end of the distribution network and at the user side. It is physically connected to power production and power consumption, and is responsible for a full range of power supply and consumption services for serving residents and industrial and commercial users.

However, low voltage, tripping, power-off, and power outages often occur during peak power consumption periods. In addition, the power grid system cannot quickly locate the fault source and deal with some small hidden dangers in time, which is likely to cause a large electrical fire accident.

The preceding problems have brought a lot of challenges to the work of the traditional distribution transformer area:

  • There are many kinds of power distribution equipment in the distribution transformer area, there is no unified standard, and they operate independently of each other, making management and scheduling difficult.
  • When the low-voltage equipment fails, it can only be known through the manual repair by an electricity customer.
  • The distribution transformer area has a wide range of points. It is difficult to verify the connection relationships between users and the distribution transformer area, and it is also difficult to obtain accurate information and data.
  • Low automation level and technical strength of the power supply equipment between the distribution transformer area and the user's electricity meter. Its operation status has always been a monitoring blind spot, resulting in low work efficiency.

The IoT+distribution network system provides a new idea for solving the problems of the distribution transformer area: to build a solution for the smart distribution transformer area equipped with smart integration terminals. The solution helps monitor and evaluate the operation status of the distribution transformer area in real time, and provide a warning as required. This implementation helps provide intelligent management of the low-voltage distribution network in the distribution transformer area, proactively report power outages, and automatically transfer emergency repair work orders to front-line staff, making it more convenient and efficient to handle abnormalities in the distribution transformer area and customer demands, and shortening the troubleshooting time.

  • Real-time monitoring and unified scheduling: All equipment data in the distribution transformer area can be collected in real time. After preliminary analysis, the data can be transferred to the master station of the system for in-depth analysis and control. This helps detect problems in time, prevent hidden dangers in advance, and improve proactive repair capabilities. At the same time, the master station of the system can send instructions to all equipment through the terminals in the distribution transformer area to implement unified scheduling management.
  • Accurate fault judgment in the distribution transformer area: It can narrow the judgment scope of the power outage, locate the fault scope, effectively improve the efficiency of power repair, and shorten the power outage time.
  • Draw "a map for the distribution transformer area": The master station of the system will automatically generate a topology diagram of users in the distribution transformer area based on the analysis of the line data collected by the terminals in the smart distribution transformer area. By using the "map for the distribution transformer area", you can clearly and timely understand the operating status and hidden dangers of each equipment in the distribution transformer area, and implement intelligent monitoring and refined management of the distribution transformer area.
  • Lean line loss analysis and management: Real-time power collection at all levels of the distribution transformer area, branch box, and meter box, and rapid statistical analysis provide a basis for the management and judgment of electricity theft prevention, and implement lean line loss management.

Neoway collaborates with Willfar, a well-known enterprise in power IoT, to develop smart distribution transformer terminals based on Neoway's 4G star module N720. The smart distribution transformer terminals have the characteristics of plug and play, equipment connectivity, comprehensive status awareness, application model upgrades, rapid business iteration, and efficient use of resources. This helps implement power quality monitoring and demand-side management in the distribution transformer area, and fully support the centralized detection and on-site intelligent management of the low-voltage distribution network by using distribution transformer terminals.

Since the 2G era, Neoway has held the No. 1 market share for 13 consecutive years in the power IoT industry in China; in 2021, Neoway ranked No. 1 market share in the India power IoT market. With abundant and reliable products, Neoway has successively provided stable, reliable and secure access communications for customers in the power industry in Europe, Southeast Asia, and other regions.
