Nowadays, the wireless module is used more and more in scenarios such as factory management, modern agriculture, and smart cities. Standardized installation is one of the important conditions for wireless modules to work stably and for a long time. Proper operation and use can reduce maintenance and time costs.


When installing the wireless module, we need to pay attention to the following


Ensure lightning and waterproof measures


During thunderstorms, there is often an instantaneous high-voltage and large-current discharge effect in the air. Wireless modules that have not been protected against lightning according to the requirements are vulnerable to lightning strikes, especially for devices that need to install antennas. Once they are struck by lightning, the communication link will be interrupted, and high voltage introduced into the wireless module system can also damage the internal control circuit, causing irreversible damage. Lightning protection and isolation are effective measures to protect wireless modules from lightning strikes and ensure the normal operation of wireless module communication links. Therefore, install professional lightning protection devices as much as possible according to the actual situation.


Ensure reliable grounding


Grounding is an important factor that affects the normal operation of communication equipment. Its functions are as follows: reliable grounding reduces noise and other interference on wireless module communication equipment and improves the working stability of electronic components of communication equipment; ensures that the electronic components in communication equipment are free from electrostatic high voltage and instantaneous discharge pulses. Damage; good grounding gives communication equipment excellent shielding, avoiding external electromagnetic interference, etc.


Proper installation layout of antennas


Depending on the transmission power of the module (or radio station) used and the distance of transmission, choose the appropriate type of antenna. Common antennas include spring antennas, SMA conversion straight heads, bend heads, folding rod antennas, suction cup antennas, or other high-gain omnidirectional or directional antennas. Before installation, carefully read the antenna manual for any special requirements and check whether the frequency band and power capacity of the antenna meet the requirements. The installation height of outdoor antennas should be determined according to needs and actual conditions, taking into account the transmission distance of the signal, surrounding interference, and feeder loss. Higher antenna installation is not always better. The grounding of the outdoor antenna base should be good, and the installation must be firm, able to resist wind, corrosion, and withstand strong temperature changes.


Precautions for using the wireless module


  • Keep a group of mutually communicating wireless modules on the same frequency band, the same channel, and the same air rate, otherwise, data loss, garbled reception, etc. may occur.
  • Avoid using wireless modules in extreme environments that exceed the specified high temperature and humidity, dust, low temperature, etc.
  • Choose a suitable DC stabilized power supply. It is best to use a power supply that can resist interference, has small ripple, and strong load capacity to ensure that the wireless module can work stably for a long time.
  • Standardized installation and use of wireless modules can make products achieve the best working results. Carefully read the instructions and strictly follow the requirements to reduce unnecessary misoperations and improve efficiency.
